Pacemaker's 66th Anniversary

Today, April 1st 2022, marks the 66th anniversary of the founding of our company. In 1956 at the age of 27, Gene Romano founded Pacemaker Steel Warehouse, Inc., a distributor and processor of industrial steel and aluminum. It was a bold move but Gene saw a need in the community as Utica was enjoying an industrial boom with General Electric, Kelsey Hayes, and so many other once prominent manufacturers. In 1969 Charles Millar Supply of Utica (founded 1861) was acquired and in 1978 Colerick Supply of Utica (founded in 1919) was acquired. The surviving company was Pacemaker-Millar Steel and Industrial Supply Co., Inc., now known as Pacemaker Steel and Piping Company, Inc.
